My work Kysely (Questionnaire), created for the University Museum in Helsinki in 2013, was based on an official psychiatric survey to which I added questions of my own invention. Visitors were invited to fill out a multi-page form that started out conventionally but became increasingly strange as the questions unfolded. I wanted the form to slip gradually out of certainty, so that respondents found themselves wondering where the official ended and the imaginary began. Completed forms could be returned in the drawer, but participants never received a reply – nor a diagnosis.
The work and questionnaire are currently available only in Finnish.
